This report presents a North/South profile of physical and mental health, lifestyles and the experience of health services. It was commissioned by the Department of Health and Children and compares health and lifestyles in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland using the population surveys Slán 2007 and NIHSWS 2005. Some of the key findings from the report show that:

The 2009 European Elections provide an opportunity to influence health at local and European Government level.  IPH has produced a short manifesto identifying 5 areas of action in public health for MEPs and political parties.

National health information can hide important differences in health at local level.  There is currently no system for monitoring local health and social wellbeing across the island of Ireland. To support development of an agreed suite of indicators, INIsPHO has created an all-Ireland dataset entitled the All-Ireland Health and Wellbeing Dataset (AIHWDS).  This resource will enable users will now be able to compare a wide range of indicators that will allow them to obtain a more comprehensive profile of a particular area.

Decent Food for All (DFfA) was a community-based programme developed and implemented by the Armagh and Dungannon Health Action Zone.  Tackling Food Poverty is the report of an evaluation carried out for safefood by the Institute of Public Health in Ireland.  It brings together the lessons for the all-Ireland learning from the Decent Food for All (DFfA) intervention research programme.
