IPH response to Guidelines for Wellbeing in Junior Cycle

11 Jul 2016

In the Republic of Ireland a new Junior Cycle curriculum is under development. This includes a new Wellbeing component. This consultation sought feedback on the Draft Guidelines for Wellbeing in the Junior Cycle. The draft guidelines propose how schools can deliver the Wellbeing component through a blend of Physical Education, Social Personal and Health Education and other activities. In our response, IPH welcomed the inclusion of Wellbeing as a core learning outcome of the Junior Cycle and made some commentary on how the design and delivery can best support children to be healthy, active and empowered to take control over their health.
